When I choose a book to read, I typically gravitate toward thrillers, comedies, and memoirs. Often, I find myself being sucked into the main characters lives and am eager to learn more about them. It is rare that I choose a romantic book. But, one that touched me was the story of Griffin and Sabine by Nick Bantock.
Griffin and Sabine is not a typical book, it’s an epistolary novel. What’s that you ask? It’s a novel written as a series of documents. Griffin and Sabine’s love story is told through removable letters and postcards that they’ve exchanged.
I love the unique way the story unfolded. Nearly every page enables you to open a small envelope and pull out one of their letters. The other pages have images of postcards printed on them. It’s a beautiful way to read a love story. If I ever found love notes between my grandparents or great-grandparents I would certainly turn them into a book similar to this.
Their story continued in Sabine’s Notebook and The Golden Mean. It’s been years since I first read Griffin and Sabine; I may have to reopen my copy and order the other two as well!
Have you read any romantic books lately?

I don’t know if a Kindle version is available. It’s very interactive, with things to remove and hold. I don’t know how that would translate to an electronic version.
If I can find my printed copy, I’ll let you know.

What a unique concept. I’ve just been to Amazon to see the trilogy and I am looking forward to reading all three books. I’m so glad I chose this post to comment on or I’d never have found it. So thank you for introducing the Griffin and Sabine stories.
