The Texan and I have been talking about purchasing a new vehicle this year. We are considering a Ford and have heard great things about the Ford F-150 Harrisonville selection.
While Harrisonville is a bit far for us to travel to purchase a new vehicle, we will be purchasing a 4-wheel drive. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you know that during the summer months, we drive out on the beach in our vehicles. Having a 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must for our family.
The Texan drove a red Ford pickup for a few years, and still talks about how much he loved it. I know he would love to drive one again. It doesn’t help that my dad is driving a new one either! There would be a few benefits to having a pickup truck. We wouldn’t have to worry about getting sand in the cargo area because it could be hosed out.I don’t think that I would like to drive a pickup truck. I’ve never considered myself a truck driving kind of girl.
I do have my eyes on the Ford Expedition. My favorite feature about that vehicle is that there is plenty of seating and lots of cargo space. Oh – and cup holders! Who doesn’t love a vehicle with a bunch of cup holders? I prefer the covered cargo area to an open bed of a pickup truck.
We are currently driving an SUV and a sedan. We are hoping to trade both of those vehicles in and become a one car family. The financial savings on fuel would not be that much, but we would reduce our monthly vehicle payments and our insurance policy would decrease. I estimate that we would save about $300 per month. That is a savings of $3600 per year – enough for a fun family vacation!
What type of vehicle do you drive? Has your family downsized to only one vehicle?
