The holidays are a busy time of year. All too often we find ourselves saying “YES!” to everything and “NO!” to nothing. This can leave us feeling stressed and anxious. Trust me, I’ve been there. This year, I’m taking a new approach to ensure I am staying happy and balanced during the holidays.
Tips to Staying Happy and Balanced During the Holidays
1| Say NO more often. It can be difficult to turn down holiday party invites and requests to help for “just a few minutes” at your child’s school, but it is okay to say no. Saying no to things that aren’t adding true value to your life will reduce stress.
2| Make it a point to be tech free. For at least an hour a day, put away all of the technology. No cell phones, no tablets, no laptops, no PCs. Nothing. Connect with your family. Ask questions about their day. One of my favorite questions to ask The Boy is “what would you change about today if you could?” Not only is it an interesting way to see what he’s enjoying most, it can also offer insights about his engagement with his friends.
3| Enjoy the simple things. Connect with your children over a wholesome foods at your local McDonald’s. Now through March, your child can choose to enjoy Cuties as a side in Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals, as well as “a la carte,” or just purchasing the side option itself. Cuties are a sweet and delicious kid-sized fresh fruit choice providing an excellent source of vitamin C and providing about one-quarter (1/4) cup of fruit; they are small and easy-to-hold and peel.
Cuties are available for a limited time while they’re in season, through March 2015. Happy Meals are priced at $2.99, making them an affordable meal during this busy time of year. Children can choose both apple slices and Cuties as side offerings, or choose Go-GURT low fat Strawberry Yogurt in addition to apple slices or Cuties. Delicious beverages choices for children now include 1% low-fat milk, 1% low-fat chocolate milk, 100% apple juice.
4 Have Fun. Whatever you do this holiday season, be sure to have fun and create lasting memories that you and your children will cherish for years to come.

During the holidays, I make time to get some exercise done. Even if it is a 2o minute walk, it is refreshing and gives me energy. Also, I drink plenty of water, staying hydrated keeps me healthy inside and out. 🙂
