The National Weather Service is reporting a chance of rain for Saturday and is calling for BEACH weather on Sunday! The rain should bring a relief to the humidity we’ve experienced this week. Temperatures have been in the 90’s, which is very high for Cape Cod, particularly in the month of June.
Kicking off the weekend is the Arts Alive Festival in Falmouth. The festival is perfect for families as it features music, dancing, and over 60 vendors! Expect to see arts and crafts for children to participate in as well! You can learn more about the festival here. The festival runs the entire weekend, be sure to check out their calendar so you don’t miss your favorite musicians and dancers!
On the other end of the Cape, you’ll find the Provincetown Portuguese Festival. This annual event runs today through Sunday. You’ll find great food, music and dancing all around the fishing town. Highlights from Saturday will include judging of decorated boats, a performance by the Toe Jam and Puppet Band, and kids games and a cookout. On Sunday, don’t miss the 65th annual blessing of the fleet.
If you’re interested in getting fresh air and a bit of exercise on Saturday morning, head over to Harwich for the third annual Harwich 5K. Entry fee is $20 and more information can be found here.
Sunday kick’s off the town of Yarmouth’s second annual Summer Celebration. The event runs through June 29 and features a variety of family friendly activities, like sand sculptures, a fish derby, and a fireworks display to close out the event.
Love baseball? Be sure to check out a Cape Cod Baseball League game. The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premiere collegiate summer league. Many of the players in the summer league will go on to become stars in Major League Baseball! Games are played regularly though August in 10 Cape Cod towns. Admission is free and the games provide great entertainment for the entire family. (Some teams do ask for a donation, or offer a 50/50 raffle. It’s important to donate what you can as the league and the teams are non-profits.) We’ll be supporting the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, our hometown team!
There are so many fun things happening this weekend on Cape Cod, I’m not sure we’ll get it all in! Whatever you and your family decides to do, I hope you enjoy your time together on Cape Cod.
Oh how I wish I could be up there this weekend! Chatham is my happy place!
