Do you remember the Valentine’s Day Yarn Wreath that I made last year? Well, I’m adding to my handmade Valentine’s Day decorations this year with an easy Valentine’s Day Garland Tutorial.
If you’re a crafter, you probably have the supplies on hand. If not, you can pick them up at your local craft or fabric store. You’ll need red and white pom poms, fishing line, and a needle. I got mine at Michael’s – don’t forget your coupon – and snagged the fishing line from The Texan.
Valentine’s Day Garland Tutorial
Determine where you are going to hang your garland. I made several strands to hang over our dining room windows. I didn’t measure the length of the fishing line, I just pulled it off until it looked like I had enough. I made ten strands, and hung five over each window.
I love these fuzzy little pom poms, don’t you?
The first step is threading the needle onto the fishing line. Or is it threading the fishing line with the needle? Either way, you need to get these two elements to work together! I chose the needle with the largest eye. That made it easier to get the needle onto the virtually invisible fishing line.
One you’ve done that, tie a knot in the end of the fishing line so your pom poms won’t fall off. Here’s where the fun begins! Now, you’ll thread a pom pom onto the fishing line. Do it one at a time, leaving ample space between each pom pom. Keep threading the pom poms in random color order onto the line until you reach the end. Tie a knot, and hang it up.
Wow! This is really cool and easy to make. I’ll have to try to do this next week.
Thanks Meg! It was fun and super easy to make. I only stuck my fingers a few times!
This is awesome! I love the alternating red and white poms.
Thanks so much! I see this becoming a staple of all the holiday decor in our home. It’s so easy to make and looks great, too!
Enjoy your day.

Thanks! It’s fairly easy, I think threading the needle is the hardest part!
I never forgot my Michael’s coupon. 😀 This is such an adorable idea! I have a feeling my cats would love it too. 🙂
Thanks Kiersten! I love Michael’s, but sometimes they can be too pricey – coupons are a must have!
Such an awesome idea! I can so do this, I have tonnes of poms poms in the kids craft box.
Thank you! I hope you have fun making it -just watch out with the needle!
This is so pretty – I absolutely love it
Thank you! It’s subtle enough too, that when I fail to take it down on 2/15, it won’t annoy me too much!
This is really cute. I love how they seem to sort of float there.
Thank you! It was fun to make, too!
