Day Four of our Week in the life series. I’ve learned a lot about our lives so far. We eat fairly healthy most of the time, play a lot, and leave the less important things to do later. I love our life. I really do.
On Thursday, I woke very early. The Boy was awake, remember he slept at his “base camp” in the living room. When The Texan left for CrossFit, The Boy woke up. I heard him saying “Bye Daddy. Bye Daddy” over and over again. I cherish moments like these.
After another “horrible housekeeper” confession, I felt inspired to rearrange our living room furniture. The Boy packed up his base camp, and I loaded up the dishwasher, then started moving the couch and chairs.
No base camp is complete without a guitar. {even though his is a ukulele.}
The couch and chairs were moved to create a more defined living room. This room is more of a “sitting room” as we don’t have a television here. The Boy and I listen to the radio and dance in here. The Texan sits in here and we talk as I make dinner. It’s a nice room and the space is open to our dining room and our kitchen. I like the open space, but wanted a change.
Once I moved the couch, I realized I need a bigger change.
Naturally, I didn’t have enough paint on hand. So The Boy and I took a field trip to Home Depot. We looked at a lot of stuff there, including the clearance refrigerators. For some reason, I have a weird obsession with them.
After Home Depot, we went to our local Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop for a scoop. Which is really more than one even when you ask for one. The Boy really, really wanted a fancy cone. He had two bites and the thrill was gone.
We returned home, slapped another coat of paint on the wall and watched it dry from the new living room layout.
The wall color is Behr’s Silver Screen. It’s tough to photograph, but it is a gray. The same color we painted our stairway. If I’m not careful, our entire house will be gray.
Both the white couch and chair are from Ikea. The decorative pillows, too. The yellow wall color is Behr’s Clam Chowder. It’s going to be repainted soon. We just need to decide on a color.
The black bench is my yard sale transformation that I wrote about a long, long time ago.
I was exhausted by the end of the day. We had a quick dinner and relaxed. The Texan had rugby practice and I let The Boy stay up until he got home. I’m a cool mom, I know!
Again…photos of stuff and not people! When am I going to get this down?!
Be sure to follow along this week on Instagram as I continue to share my Week in the Life with you. I’m shooting for a daily post as well, but do keep in mind that life happens. If you’re interested in seeing what other’s Week In the Life looked like on Thursday, check out the link party that Ali is hosting!

Gosh, thanks so much! That’s so nice to hear. I always feel like it’s organized chaos. Though I supposed it looks a bit more put together because of moving the furniture around. I’m happy to report, that nearly a week later, it still looks like the photo – and Woody is still sitting on the couch. I guess he likes it there!
