Have you planned your winter getaway yet? Don’t pack your bags for the beach without taking a copy of Here I Go Again by Jen Lancaster. It’s a fun, witty, and humorous look back on the life of a “Mean Girl.”
Here I Go Again by Jen Lancaster
I was excited to Jen is back with another funny novel staring a snarky main character, Lissy Ryder, reliving her high school days through a magic potion. Lissy Ryder was the girl everyone hated – and for good reason. She was pretty, popular, prom queen, drove a nice car – really seemed to have it all. What she lacked was self-esteem, and she wrecked havoc on the lives of her classmates.
The book jumps back and forth in time, with each transport through time Lissy learns more about herself. Likes herself a bit less, and longs to be a better person. It takes her a few trips, and a few lessons from a new-age guru that she once verbally abused in high school, but she realizes that she can only change her future by changing those who’ve impacted her past the most.
Lissy isn’t a very likable character, with all of the attention on bullying in high school these days, it’s no wonder. I could relate to certain aspects of Lissy, that scared me. I couldn’t help but wonder if I was a bully in high school, too.

Sounds like an interesting and fun book to read! I love reading but haven’t done very much of it since I had kids. I just started getting back in to it and I’m reading a really great book right now called Shattered!

When we found out that I was pregnant, my husband bought me a Kindle. It was the greatest gift ever! I actually read MORE than I did before my son was born. I’ve since upgraded to an iPad, but still use the Kindle app for most of my reading. Having an e-reader has made it easier to squeeze in reading time! If you don’t already have one, I recommend one! AND scheduling an hour or so a week to read. It’s nice to have that time, I look forward to it.
(I should mention that for this book, I did read the actual hard copy.)

I don’t have an e-reader. 🙁 I definitely want to get one though.

I hope your Valentine brings you one! 🙂

That sounds like it would be a great book for kids today with all the bullying that goes on. I will check this out.
