If there is one thing I am thankful for, it is coffee. It keeps me going when I spread myself too thin. Which happens more often than I care to admit. I find that iced coffee made with an Arabica Blend is exactly what I need to stay sharp and creative.
I grabbed some SToK™ coffee from the refrigerated section at my local Walmart. It is pure coffee with no weird ingredients. Available in five great varieties (Black, Mocha, Vanilla, Un-Sweet, and Not Too Sweet), SToK™ coffee is just what you need to take your creative skills to the next level.
Inspired by my love of coffee, I decided to whip up this fun coffee themed sign. I’m going to teach you how to make one, too!

Silhouette electronic cutting machine {or a sharp all-purpose craft knife and a permanent black marker}
**Instructions for cutting a stencil using a sharp all-purpose craft knife can be found at the end of the post.
I began by painting my entire wood board a pale blue, this background color will allow the silvery-gray vinyl phrase to really pop. Let the board dry. Drink some SToK™ coffee while you wait.
While the paint was drying, I designed my coffee themed sign stencil using the Silhouette software. I decided to resize the stencil to fit the size of my wood board. I wanted it to take up as much space as possible, without appearing too large.
Cut out your phrase using the Silhouette electronic cutting machine. Once the cutting is compelted, remove the unwanted vinyl from your design. For this coffee themed sign, I’ll be leaving the vinyl on the wood. So I am very careful not to remove the phrase itself. This process is called weeding.
Place the transfer paper on top of the vinyl. Smooth it out to ensure the transfer paper adheres well. Then, pull up at a 45 degree angle to remove the adhesive vinyl from the backing.
Affix the vinyl to the wood board you painted earlier. Smooth out the edge and rub them well to ensure they are sealed. If you’d like, you can seal it with a decoupage medium.
Sit back with a glass of SToK™ and smile knowing you found inspiration in a bottle. A coffee themed sign and a cold brew coffee. Perfection.
To make this project without an electronic cutter, simply create the phrase you want to use in a word processing program, then print it out onto white paper. Trace the image using a black permanent marker. Cut around the image to trim off excess white paper. Tape the design to the the vinyl and cut it out using a sharp all-purpose craft knife. Be very careful, those knives are sharp! And they can cut you! Once you have your design cut out, follow the steps above to affix it to the wood board.
So cute! I love the colors and font that you chose! Your sign looks fantastic! Thanks so much for the guidelines!
