The talented Emmy Rossum’s Sentimental Journey CD was released on January 29th! Have you heard it yet?
I found myself pleasantly surprised by the album. Knowing her only as an actress – she currently stars in Showtimes SHAMELESS with William H. Macy – I wondered if she could carry a tune. Her voice is beautiful and really transports you back in time. This album is a mix of classic and jazz covers dating back as far as the 1920’s. The CD is perfect background music for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at home. And with each song representing a month, you’ll be listening to it year round.
“Each song needed to either lyrically or emotionally reflect the corresponding month,” Emmy explained. “Some songs were obvious fits, like Summer Wind for June, and Pretty Paper for December. Others songs were less literal fits. I chose Nobody Knows You (When You’re Down and Out) for September because, to me, the plaintive melody and lyric emotionally reflect the cold weather creeping in and the sense of melancholy we can get in the fall months.”

What do you think about actors/actresses releasing albums? Do you typically find that you enjoy their music?
Cathy says
She played Christine in the film version of Phantom of the Opera and if I remember correctly is classically trained in opera.
I love her in Shameless though! That show is just so outrageous and wrong you have to laugh at it.

I’m thinking of subscribing to Showtime – everyone is talking about Shameless!
