Hey there beautiful, I’m Yasmin and I blog over at Beautilosophy. I write mostly about beauty related topics, such as makeup tutorials, so being on a mommy blog is… different for me! When I saw that Emily was looking for guest posts though, I decided to jump right in as I’ve never done one before and I knew that I could definitely write about something other than beauty.
To be quite honest, I am not a mother. Neither am I going to be one any time soon. What I am is a 22 year old with a passion for beauty and fashion. I just completed my university degree with honours in marketing and I am currently doing an internship at a monthly beauty subscription service in Canada. When I am not working, I am usually out with someone very special to me, and we are always trying to find ways to enjoy our outings without having to splurge! So here are some ideas I have for some fun and affordable dates:
* Go to a drive-in movie theatre:
Not only is this super affordable (half the price of going to an indoor movie theatre) but just having the chance to watch a movie under the stars with your loved one can be super fun. You get to cuddle without being stared down by the people sitting next to you thinking “get a room!” and you also have the opportunity to discuss things about the movie without bothering anyone. This cute date night doesn’t have to start at the drive-in either; rather, it can start right at home where you two can make popcorn together and pack some drinks and snacks for the two of you to enjoy during the movie!
* Do something sporty that you wouldn’t always think of doing:
This might not sound as fun, but trust me it is! Maybe go to your neighbourhoods tennis courts and play a friendly game of tennis, or even go biking together. Not only are you staying fit together, but you can definitely feel a different type of connection when you’re exercising, especially when it is something light (not like going to the gym and lifting weights!). Reward yourselves afterwards by going for a nice moonlit stroll while holding hands and get some ice cream.
* Bowling.
Enough said.
No, I’m kidding! Bowling is tons of fun, especially if you can find a bowling alley that has glow in the dark lanes! Get a little friendly-competitive and see which one of you can achieve the highest score, or go the complete opposite direction and just let loose and have fun without worrying about who wins. I know when I go bowling, I find myself doing a silly dance after every bowl and it makes him laugh. Don’t stick to your comfort zone. Be silly and get out of your skin for an hour or two, it won’t hurt 🙂
* Go to a yoga class together:
Yoga classes are not expensive if you’re trying it out as a one time thing. Some are as low as $10 a class. A lot of Yoga places also have special rates for new customers. Either way, Yoga is fun. If you are married with children, it can help you get out of the house and relax for an hour. Literally. If you’re just looking to try something different, avoiding going somewhere loud, or even avoiding having to dress up, then this is the perfect activity for you two to do. If he still thinks you are beautiful even in your sweatpants and your hair tied, then he’s definitely a keeper!
Here are 4 fun, affordable, and different date nights that you can try out. I hope this was helpful and that you try one of them or all of them. Remember this post when you do decide to!
Thanks, Yasmin. Those were fun ideas! I haven’t been to the drive-in theater for years! If you’re looking for more from Yasmin, please visit her website, follower her on Twitter and Tumblr, and like her on Facebook.
