When was the last time I wrote our menu plan in advance? Gosh, who knows? And, my waistline and wallet are suffering for it. With school finishing up soon, I figure now is a good time to get back on the menu plan band wagon.
This week, we’re forecast for rain and cool temperatures. Weather that leaves you craving lasagna and homemade bread, not grilled fish and salads. It’s weeks like these that I struggle. I’m working on a plan to get fit, and feel fit; and that includes not eating homemade bread every day.
I think one night, I’ll make simple sandwiches and serve them with fries and onion rings. This honey strawberry dipping sauce was so good, I really want to make it again!
Here’s what we’re planning eating this week:
Monday: Grilled chicken with brown rice and vegetables.
Tuesday: Sandwiches and fries.
Wednesday: Shrimp Scampi.
Thursday: Taco Thursday. Like Taco Tuesday, but less fun to say.
Friday: Pizza. Because Friday night without pizza is just weird.
Saturday: Dinner with friends!
Sunday: Lobster Rolls, if the sun is shining.
The reality of life will set in. Things will get busy, I’ll get lazy. So, here’s a look at what we will probably end up eating this week:
Monday: Chopped chicken salad.
Tuesday: I’m going to an event, so The Texan and The Boy will probably have leftovers, cereal, or maybe hot dogs.
Wednesday: I have plans to meet a friend, so The Texan and The Boy will probably eat the same thing they ate on Tuesday night.
Thursday: Burrito Bowls. Because that’s like a taco, but different.
Friday: Pizza.
Saturday: Dinner with friends!
Sunday: Lobster Rolls, even if it rains.
I’m probably going to make some of these easy popsicles for The Boy:
And some of these awesome frozen yogurt popsicles for The Texan (okay, maybe I’ll have one!):
What’s happening in terms of menu planning at your house? Are you sticking to it?
I love that you have a plan, and then a “realistic” plan. I’m always changing my menu plan when things get hectic or I’m just not in the mood for what I planned…..maybe I’ll start making a “real” plan too! 🙂
