As I child, I remember my parents purchasing a new vehicle every year. It was mostly my dad doing the shopping and trading of vehicles; he’s still on the same trade in cycle, too. They’d rotate who got the new one; one year it was a new truck for my dad, the following year a new car for my mom. Each vehicle had the latest and greatest safety features, which way back then did not include airbags! Yet one brand that was always been on the cutting edge of safety is Volvo.
After The Boy was born, The Texan and I began making plans to upgrade my vehicle from a super cute two-door-zip-around-town-while-pretending-to-be-a-racecar-driver car. Suddenly, safety features were more important than 10 speakers in a coupe! {Imagine that!} One brand that we immediately looked at was Volvo.
It was a sensible choice, loaded with safety features and a few awesome upgrades from the race car that I was driving! Think heated leather seats and driver’s side one-touch window! Woo-hoo! I was fancy now. But more importantly, I was safe.
And so was our precious cargo.
Fast forward a few years and I have the new car itch again. {Thanks dad!} When I heard the Volvo V60 wagon is making a come back, it made me even itchier. The Boy is getting older, having a little more space than what our Volvo sedan offers would be amazing. And, Volvo has added a slew of new features like:
-
Power and automatic everything
Rain sensors
Cross traffic alert
Adaptive digital display
Active dual xenon headlights
Headlight washers
Grocery bag holders
Tri-folding rear sets
I’ve told The Texan that I’d rather walk than drive a minivan. {I just don’t understand the attraction to those.} The new Volvo V60 Wagon would give me additional cargo and passenger space. I love the bold new look of the V60.
When I get behind the wheel of my new V60 {adding this to my birthday wish list!}, I will stand out for all the right reasons! The V60 isn’t simply a repurposed sedan with a lifted trunk. Rather, it’s designed for purpose, the way a wagon should be. The wide grille and lights form a prominent face. Clean lines flow from the classic Volvo V-shaped sculpted hood, creating strong shoulders that frame the signature tail lights and integrated exhaust. Clearly, the V60 has a style of its own.
Volvo doesn’t sacrifice safety for the cool, bold look either. The V60 wagon offers features like standard City Safety, which prevents or mitigates slow moving collisions with smart automatic braking. Optional Pedestrian & Cyclist Detection, with full auto brake can automatically stop you at speeds up to 31 mph if a person steps or swerves suddenly into your lane. Awesome!
If it ever stops snowing, we’ll make a trip to our local Volvo dealer to test drive the V60 wagon.
I can’t wait to drive my new Volvo V60 wagon. Will you be buying one too?

I’m a minivan mom. I was reluctant at first, then we downsized to an Accord. I insisted on getting my minivan back after that — we just got so spoiled by the convenience and the doors that slide open. Now, the Volvo wagon I could live with. That’s a beautiful mom car!

Wow your family had a new car every year, i grew up with no car so thats fascinating :-). The new Volvo looks awesome thanks for the great post about it.
Emily says
It’s crazy! But we did. My father loves cars – used to restore old ones back to their glory days. He still loves cars – and still buys a new one everyone. My husband and I keep our vehicles for about three years before trading them in.
Sarah - ITKM says
That’s a nice looking wagon! We’re in the market. We need a new SUV and a larger car. My tiny Audi A4 was okay with one kid, but two? No. I’ll be looking into the v60!
Chrysa says
That wagon really DOES look cool. I love the safety of a Volvo!
Emily says
Wow, a new car a year sure sounds fun! It’s neat ot see the new Wagon, too. In my head they are really outdated but I had no idea that the new ones looked like this. We’ve had our current vehicle for six years now and plan to get something new within the next two years. We don’t have kids yet but I babysit my nieces and nyphews and our truck has an extended cab but the seats are really shallow so they’re not ideal for car seats at all.
Kim of Mo'Betta says
Oh girl, I’m with ya on the mini-van thing! I just can’t do it!
cole says
MAn, this looks so much cooler than old wagons

Volvo’s have always been known for safety and longevity! No, I have never owned one-preferring Chevrolets and small ones at that-(I do not have children). One of my friends has had one for years (a Volvo) and swears by them!

We are right now in the process of looking for a new car. We just have no idea at this point what we want. As soon as the weather warms up, I am sure my Hubs will have me out car hunting. This is one I am sure we will check out.

I have my dream car right now so I won’t be buying one, but you definitively arose my curiosity on this Volvo

When we were in San Diego last year, our rental car was a Volve and it was NICE! Really nice. It was the first time I had ever driven one & when we go back there in April, I am hoping we get one again!
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
I’m not a wagon person, but I have to say as far as wagons go, this is a beauty. It puts the ones I had to drive as a teenager to shame!
Maggie C says
Wow, that wagon looks really cool! I tell all fellow moms – avoid the minivan at all costs. I hated driving one!
Lawna says
Wow, rain sensors? I didn’t even realize that was available or even an option.
Amber Edwards says
I absolutely loved the sportswagons! I really really want one! But we can’t fit our entire family in one any more. 🙁 But I still really want one, just for me…just for driving around without kids in tow. lol.

I’ve got a new car itch too, but I’m waiting. We’ve got crazy squirrels that won’t stop putting their nuts in my car (so not kidding, I’ve had car repairs three times for squirrel stuff)…and an SUV won’t fit in our garage. I want another SUV (I think) so I’m waiting (in case we move, which we might). lol so many things on our potential plate. 🙂 My husband loves a Volvo!
Angie | Big Bear's Wife says
We actually just started the process of looking for a new car! I’ll have to check out the Volvo!

We never had a minivan, but sometimes it would’ve been nice to have the extra space/ That Volvo looks nice, and has space and safety. A good alternative to the minivan!
Beth says
I would MUCH rather drive this than a minivan! I told my husband when we had kids that I would never drive a van lol.
Amber Nelson says
Your precious cargo is adorable and that Volvo looks comfortable!
Sarah Bailey says
Now that is one nice looking car! Its amazing the things we get from our parents – I hope you find your next perfect car soon! x
Jenny says
Wow, that actually is kind of stylish. We’re in the market for a crossover type vehicle, but are leaning more towards a Subaru Outback just for the sheer fact that nothing compares to it in its class that I’ve found yet. I wonder if this will?
Annemarie says
I love Volvos they are so much safer than other cars. I am in the market for a new car will keep this in mind.
Ashley Wintters says
I can’t imagine trading cars every year! I’m working on narrowing down my list of new cars I’m looking at though….need 3 rows of seats now….

This looks like an awesome answer to someone who needs some space but doesn’t want an SUV or mini Van. It is really beautiful and I can see why you want it. Great family car.
Amanda Ripsam says
I too can see why you would want it. we have a mini van. I wish we could afford one of these right now 🙂
Courtney Pies says
This Volvo V60 looks really cool! I’m not a huge Volvo fan, but this sounds like a great car for a parent.
Triplezmom says
I love my minivan, just because of the room it has for 3 kids and all their friends and sports equipment. But for coolness, I’d much rather have a Volvo.
CrazyMom a/k/a Melanie says
