This week our featured contributor comes to us all the way from the Dominican Republic! Did you know that The Texan and I honeymooned there nearly six years ago?! Beautiful country. Hola, my name is Aidé, I´m a mom of 3 kids ( 2 girls and 1 boy, one of my girls is named Emilie), a wife to a man that keeps me grounded, a photographer by heart, a writer by choice and I´m trilled by the opportunity of being here over at Nap Time is My Time.
I was born in the Dominican Republic, moved to NYC at an early age, lived some years in the good old south (North Carolina to be exact…nothing like the southern hospitality!) and recenty moved back home to the Dominican Republic.
I know I´ve done a lot of moving around for someone my age ( and Yes, I´m still in my tweenties, until this coming Sunday that is…)
As a mom of young kids I´m always searching for the missing DVD cases or the DVD sheets (the ones that tell you which movie belongs inside that particular case, yeah those) either because my 8 yr old forgot to put the back in place or because my 3 yr old (Emilie) will grab the case and make a bracelet out of it (and if have kids you know what I mean!).
Last night as I was trying to make sense of the mess my kids had made with the DVD cases I came accross a bunch of drawings that I´ve accumulate over the years from my older daughter. I decided that instead of throwing them away (like sometimes I do due to lack of space) I would turn those drawing into new DVD cases sheets.
And here is what I did:
1. After choosing my favorite ones, I took the drawing and measure it to the size need for the DVD case.
3. Write the name of the movie outside the case or on the drawing ( I prefer the plastic cover in case I ever need to change the case´s name (you know if the kid loses another DVD, like that ever happens) these way you still have the drawing to reuse, just need to clean the name off the platic:
