“Quick, Simple and Mostly Organic Recipe”
I hear many people say that they want to eat better and make changes but eating better is more expensive. While this can be true, there are simple changes you can make that will make a difference in how healthy the food you are eating is.
If you can’t afford all organic foods, there are certain foods that you should try to get organic and others that will be ok if you don’t. One of our favorite things to eat at my house is tacos. Here is a list of the items you will need:
1 lb of hamburger
1 package of taco seasoning
2-3 ripe organic tomatoes
1 head of organic lettuce
1 organic onion
1- 8 oz package of shredded cheese of your choice
1 package of taco shells, soft or hard
1 package of taco seasoning
2-3 ripe organic tomatoes
1 head of organic lettuce
1 organic onion
1- 8 oz package of shredded cheese of your choice
1 package of taco shells, soft or hard
You can add in any other ingredients you wish. You can find many, many organic ingredients at your local health food store, Whole Foods, Meijer stores, or even local grocery stores.
First, cook the one pound package of hamburger. Once the hamburger is done, add in the seasoning and water according to the seasoning package. While that is cooking you can prepare the lettuce, onion and tomoto along with any other veggies you choose to add. Once the meat is finished pile some on the taco shell and top with lettice, tomato, onion and cheese. This is super quick and typically takes me less than 45 minutes to prepare.
We also use the same toppings (minus the taco shells) along with nacho cheese Doritos and Catalina/bacon flavored salad dressing to make taco salad.
I know this is a super simple recipe that you don’t really need directions for, however, I wanted to point out how simple it is to add organic foods to your everyday recipes.
How is this healthy you may be asking? There are many pesticides on vegetables and by using organic veggies in this recipe you are making a huge difference in what you are consuming. You can make these simple changes in all of the recipes you prepare. Many people may not be able to use everything organic, but part of this meal is organic and that makes it better for you by consuming less pesticides!
